Services for Donald Kenney of Brookhaven are 2 p.m., Monday,Nov. 10, at Harrigill Funeral Home Chapel with burial in EasthavenCemetery.

Mr. Kenney, 80, died Nov. 8, 2003, at Countrybrook LivingCenter. He was born in Hattiesburg on Jan. 9, 1923, to RobertKenney Sr. and Louise Poole.

He was a retired conductor for Illinois Central Gulf Railroad,starting his railroad career as a carman with Mississippi CentralRailroad. He was a 1940 Brookhaven High School graduate, andattended Mississippi State University, where he was a member of the”Famous Forty” MSU Band. He was a Navy veteran of World War II andserved as a bombardier/navigator on seaplanes in theAsiatic/Pacific Theatre. He received the Navy Air Medal and theDistinguished Flying Cross. After retirement, he was active inVeterans of Foreign Wars, serving as district commander for threeyears and a national aide-de-camp for two years. He was a lifetimemember of Post 2618, and was a member of Disabled AmericanVeterans. He served as a Brookhaven alderman from 1985-1989. He wasa member of the Baptist faith.

Preceding him in death were his parents; his brothers, RobertKenney Jr. and B. Higdon Kenney; and his sister, MargaretKenney.

Survivors are his wife, Nelda Thetford Kenney of Brookhaven; hisdaughters, Nancy K. Paxton and Donna Nel Kenney, both ofBrookhaven; his son, Gerald Raymond Kenney of Mendenhall; and hisgrandson, Paul Benjamin Paxton Jr. of Hattiesburg.
