Winnings help boost holiday spirit

Winning $100 in Hometown Bucks was just what Sarah Russ ofBrookhaven needed this holiday season to finish her Christmasshopping.

“I was almost through with my Christmas list and was excited tofind out I’d won,” she said.

Russ became the fifth winner in The DAILY LEADER’s HometownChristmas promotion, which ends Dec. 12 with the grand prizedrawing.

Her name was drawn from the thousands of entries made atparticipating businesses. She registered at Sisters By Design whileshopping recently.

“I try to support our hometown businesses, and the HometownChristmas promotions make that even more of an incentive,” saidRuss.

Russ already had her eye on several things she hoped to buy withher Hometown Bucks.

She said some of the “bucks” will be used to buy gifts for herhusband, Chandler, and their son, John David “Jack” Russ.

Hometown Bucks can be spent at Betty Ann’s, Brookhaven Sports,Brookwood Gifts and Antiques, Country Fisherman, Engravables,Expectations, The Haberdashery of Brookhaven, Millane’s Gift &Bridal Registry, NetSouth, Shipps Flowers, Sisters By Design, SmithBrothers Collision Center & Truck Accessories, The Posey Placeand T.H. Perkins Furniture.

Shoppers can register at those participating businesses, as wellas Bank of Brookhaven, State Bank and Trustmark.

Each Friday one name is drawn from the participating merchants,then the winner is drawn from those names, with a grand prizedrawing for $500 in Hometown Bucks on Dec. 12.

Employees of THE DAILY LEADER and their families are noteligible to win. Employees of participating merchants may notregister at their respective business, but they may register at anyof the other participating business.
