Services for Sylvester “Johnny” Knight of Mendenhall were 11a.m., today at First Baptist Church of Mendenhall with burial inMendenhall Cemetery.

Mr. Knight, 73, died Dec. 29, 2003, at home.

He was a graduate of Mendenhall High School and attendedCopiah-Lincoln Junior College. He served in the United States AirForce. He was an artist and carpenter. Known as Mendenhall’s”Artist in Residence,” he was uniquely gifted in all thingsartistic, and his works grace many of the buildings on Main Streetand Jackson Avenue.

Survivors are his brother, Maurice Knight of Mendenhall; hissisters, Kathleen Patrick of Mendenhall and Adeline May of McCallCreek; numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces and nephews.
