Garner leads Region 4-1A

Record-setting running back Tipson Garner of Stringer was namedthe Overall Most Valuable Player on the 2003 All-Region 4-1AFootball Team. (Garner, a 5-foot-7, 170-pound senior, set asingle-game rushing record against West Lincoln, rushing for 519yards and 6 touchdowns in the Red Devils 63-36 victory.

Bogue Chitto linebacker Todd Davis was named Region 4-1A MVP ondefense and Tony Agee of Mize was named MVP on offense.

Region champion Mize was recognized as Coaching Staff of theYear. Drew Mazzanti of Vicksburg St. Aloysius is the All-Regionpunter and John Paul Kendra of Natchez Cathedral in the All-Regionkicker.

Bogue Chitto, coached by Gareth Sartin, was runner-up to Mize inthe region race and advanced to the second round of the stateplayoffs. The Bobcats landed six First Team positions in MichaelBlackwell, Anthony Stevenson, Deonta Thompson, Cory Washington,David Adams and Rico Lewis.

West Lincoln was represented on the First Team by linebackerChris Smith. Representing Enterprise were Terrell May, JamaalVaughn and Josh Tanner.
