Services for Billy “Gus” Stevens of Hazlehurst are 10 a.m.,Friday, March 5, at First Baptist Church Chapel in Hazlehurst withburial in Bethel Baptist Church Cemetery. Community FuneralServices is in charge of arrangements.

Visitation is Thursday from 4-9 p.m., at the church.

Mr. Stevens, 69, died March 2, 2004, at St. Dominic Hospital inJackson. He was born in Copiah County on Jan. 13, 1935, to CalvinStevens and Gladys Waller Stevens.

He was a jailer for Copiah County. He was an Army veteran.

Preceding him in death were his parents; two daughters, BrendaJ. Stevens and Tracy L. Stevens; and three granddaughters, AmberSorrels, Kelsey Sorrels and Amanda Odom.

Survivors are his wife, Lavelle Stevens of Hazlehurst; hisdaughters, Donna Becerra, Susan Odom, Kelly Barker and CrystalStevens, all of Hazlehurst, Connie Sorrels of Wesson, and KimberlyThibodeaux of Houma, La.; his sons, Richard Stevens and TimothyStevens, both of Wesson; five stepdaughters; his sisters, BettyPickering of Meadville, and Myra Stead and Brenda Pollan, both ofRoxie; his brother, Ernest Stevens of Hazlehurst; 20 grandchildren;and two great-grandchildren.
