The Loyd Star Lady Hornet fastpitch softball team posted an 1104win Division 6-2A win over the Wesson Lady Cobras Thursdaynight.

Caroline Burks was the winning pitcher with seven strikeouts andthree walks. Stacy Lowery absorbed the loss with four strikeoutsand seven walks.

Powering Loyd Star (3-3, 1-0) with two singles each were AmberRestivo and Shara Johnson. Abby Delaughter and Calleye Douglassingled.

We held Wesson scoreless until the bottom of the fifth with thescore 10-0,” said Loyd Star fastpitch coach Jan Delaughter. “Wessonscored four runs on four errors. We came back and scored one run inthe top of the seventh inning.”

Wesson got a single each from Sam Ellison, Nikki McCardle,Lowery and Monica Garcia.

Junior varsity

The Loyd Star girls pounded Wesson 16-0. Nikki Hunsucker got thewin with four strikeouts and one walk. Julie Berry took the losswith two strikeouts and 11 walks.

For the Lady Hornets, Laura Britt led with a triple and twosingles. Haley Sones, Annie Smith and Myranda Watts hitssafely.

Loyd Star hosts Bogue Chitto at the Sportsplex Saturday for ajunior varsity and varsity game. Wesson visits St. Andrew’sMonday.
