BC hands Lady Bears first defeat

Sophomore pitcher Meleah Brown fanned seven batters and walkedtwo Wednesday to lead the visiting Bogue Chitto Lady Bobcats to a5-0 division win over the West Lincoln Lady Bears in fastpitchsoftball action. It was the first loss for the Lady Bears thisseason.
Bogue Chitto improved to 5-2 in Division play and 5-3 on theseason. West Lincoln stands at 5-1 in the division.
The Lady Bobcats outhit the Lady Bears 7-3.
Absorbing the loss was Heather Huff who struck out five battersand walked one.
“They (Bogue Chitto) had good pitching and we did not hit it,”said West Lincoln girls coach Luke Addison. “If our hitting comesaround, we will be very solid. I was proud of Heather Huff, the wayshe stuck in there. She pitched very good.”
Powering Bogue Chitto with a triple and a single was Brown.Tripling were Candace Braxton and Marley Porter. Kayla Smith andDevon Welch belted a double apiece. Brynna Wallace singled.
“We came out and hit the ball good and hard,” said Bogue Chittocoach Duane Burt. “We had to do this because West Lincoln has asolid defense. We hit the gaps really on with runners on. I wasextremely proud of my girls the way they played. This was good forus mentally after the loss against St. Al.”
Ashley Palomarez sparked West Lincoln with a double and asingle. Hitting safely were Savannah Palomarez and Huff.
In today’s games, Loyd Star visits West Lincoln for a varsitygame beginning at 4 p.m. Bogue Chitto hosts St. Andrew’s with a 5p.m. start.
