Lady Bears shut out Enterprise

West Lincoln overpowered the visiting Enterprise Lady YellowJackets in fastpitch softball Monday. The Lady Bears won 11-0 inthe opener and 12-0 in the nightcap, holding them hitless in thefinale.
West Lincoln, 8-2 overall and 8-2 in the division, visitsVicksburg St. Aloysius Thursday. Coach Luke Addison’s Lady Bearshost St. Al April 7.
“We had solid pitching and we had solid defense,” said CoachAddison.
West Lincoln 11, Enterprise 1
Winning pitcher Heather Huff struck out 3 batters and reliefhurler Britnee Smith fanned 2 as they combined on a 1-hitter,walking none.
Directing West Lincoln’s attack were Lauren Smith, AshleyPalomarez and Emily Richardson with 2 hits apiece. Alicia Kennedy,Holly Smith, Britnee Smith and Huff singled as West Lincoln plated10 runs in the third.
Losing pitcher Vivian Lang struck out 2 batters and walked 4. Asingle by Casey Rutland was Enterprise’s only hit.

Winning pitcher Britnee Smith and reliever Brandee May combinedfor a no hitter in just 3 innings. Smith struck out 3 batters andwalked 1. May fanned 2 batters.
At the plate, West Lincoln got 2 singles from Lauren Smith.Emily Richardson, Ashley Palomarez, Savannah Palomarez, Huff andSmith singled as they exploded for 9 runs in the second inning.
Lang fanned 2 and walked 3 in a losing cause as Coach SteveSasser’s girls fell to 1-7 on the season. They play a doubleheaderSaturday at Salem, starting at 2 p.m.
