Jack E. Butler

Graveside services for Jack E. Butler of Brandon are 10 a.m.,Wednesday, April 7, at Antioch Baptist Church cemetery in LawrenceCounty. Brookhaven Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Butler, 65, died April 4, 2004, at Missississip StateVeterans Home in Jackson. He was born in Lincoln County on Jan. 24,1939, to Steve Butler and Allie Lee Pennington Butler.

He was retired from AT&T and BellSouth phone companies, with33 years of service. He served in the National Guard.

Preceding him in death were his parents.

Survivors are his wife Janell Butler and daughters Jennifer LeeButler, of Brandon, and Jacklyn Butler Dyer, of Mandeville, La.

Bernice Mildred Jordan

Services for Bernice Mildred Jordan of Bogue Chitto were 11a.m., Tuesday, April 6, at Shady Grove Baptist Church with burialin Shady Grove Cemetery.

Visitation was Monday at Brookhaven Funeral Home.

Mrs. Jordan, 80, died April 3, 2004, at Silver Cross NursingHome. She was born in Lincoln County on Dec. 15, 1923, to WilliamBenjamin Walker and Flora Thames Walker.

She was a homemaker and a member of Shady Grove BaptistChurch.

Preceding her in death were her parents; two sisters; sevenbrothers; and a great-grandchild, Brittany Roberts.

Survivors are her daughter and son-in-law, Marilyn and TommyCrum of Brookhaven; her sons and daughters-in-law, Travis JordanJr. and wife Sondra, and Stan and Sandra Jordan, all of BogueChitto, and Kenneth and Betty Jordan of Long Beach; her sister,Bertha Kemph of Brookhaven; her brother, Earl Walker of McComb; hergrandchildren, Jon and wife Mary, Jay, Jessica, Kristi, Ashlee,Stancie, Jack, Josh, and Drew and wife Heather; hergreat-grandchildren, Taylor, Piper, Reagan, Garrett, Savannah,Jordan, Jacob, Abbie and Emily.

Services for Josie Dell Smith of Brookhaven are 3 p.m., Tuesday,April 6, at Mt. Zion Baptist Church with burial in the churchcemetery. Brookhaven Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Visitation is Tuesday from 2 p.m. until service time.

Mrs. Smith, 85, died April 5, 2004 at King’s Daughters MedicalCenter. She was born in Lincoln County on April 16, 1918, to JohnEverett Smith and Alice Foster Smith.

She was a retired seamstress from Stahl Urban garment factory.She was a member of Mt. Zion Baptist Church, where she participatedin WMU.

Preceding her in death were her parents; husband Hugh W. Smith;brothers Clifton, Bucky and Bilbo Smith; sisters Hallie Walker andGronia Smith; and grandson Jeff Britt.

Survivors are her son J. Hugh Smith, of Byram; daughter AliceBritt, of Brookhaven; and two sisters, Vadie Lee Johns, of Wesson,and Velma Smith, of Rayville, La.
