Jon Kirby Shoop
Services for Jon Kirby Shoop of Wesson were 2 p.m., Monday,April 19, at Zion Hill Baptist Church with burial in Zion HillCemetery. Stringer Family Funeral Services was in charge ofarrangements.
Mr. Shoop, 56, died April 16, 2004, at VA Medical Center inJackson.
He was chief executive officer of the Mississippi Free Wheelersorganization for 17 years. He was an Army veteran of the VietnamWar, where he earned the Purple Heart. He was a native of NewJersey and had lived in Wesson for 17 years. He was formerly activein civic clubs in Florida, and was a member of the Wesson chapterof the American Legion.
Survivors are his mother, Catherine C. Shoop of Lake City, Fla.;his wife, Janice B. Shoop; his daughters, Jeanette Aultman ofTampa, Fla., and Cathy Jo Shoop of Wesson; his sons, Ralph Shoop ofHazlehurst, and Ira Shoop and William Shoop, both of Wesson; hissister, Jossette Mims of Lake City, Fla.; his twin sister, Jan Boydof Riverview, Fla.; his brother, Jerry Shoop of Riverview; sixgrandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Julia Marguerite Case Smith
Services for Julia Marguerite Case Smith of Brookhaven are 2p.m., Wednesday, April 21, at Friendship Baptist Church with burialin the church cemetery.
Visitation is Tuesday from 5-10 p.m., and Wednesday from 10 a.m.until 1 p.m., at Community Funeral Services Chapel.
Mrs. Smith, 92, died April 19, 2004, at her residence. She wasborn in Lincoln County on Nov. 9, 1911, to Hiram G. Case and KatyCase.
She was a homemaker.
Preceding her in death were her parents; her husband, Martin L.Smith; a son, Harold Luther Smith; and two grandsons, Chris Smithand Scott Smith.
Survivors are her daughter and son-in-law, Elsie Jean and MikeThompson of Brookhaven; her son and daughter-in-law, the Rev.Talmadge and Margaret “Mollie” Smith, and Carey and Linda Smith,all of Brookhaven; her daughter-in-law, Yvonne Smith of Brookhaven;her grandchildren, Michael and Susan Thompson of Clinton, Debra andDonald Case of Brookhaven, Connie and Todd Coon of Jayess, andClara Smith of Charlotte, N.C.; and her great-grandchildren, Dr.Chad Case, and Jessica and Todd Smith, all of Jackson, Craig Caseof Brookhaven, Katy Thompson and David Thompson, both of Clinton,Tyler Ball of Japan, Tate Ball and Eli Coon, both of Jayess, andJustin Smith, Blake Smith and Caitline Hamilton, all ofBrookhaven.
