Services for Capt. Robert E. Brister of Brandon are 2 p.m.,Wednesday, April 28, at Wilson Funeral Home Chapel with burial inRobert’s Memorial Cemetery in Lawrence County.
Visitation is Tuesday from 5-9 p.m., and Wednesday from 9 a.m.until 2 p.m., at the funeral home.
Capt. Brister, 84, died April 25, 2004, at Mississippi StateVeteran’s Home in Jackson. He was born in Jayess on Aug. 8, 1919,to James E. Brister and Lillian Howell.
He retired from the Air Force in 1962, and went to work as ahospital administrator with service at Aberdeen-Monroe County inAberdeen, Inglewood Nursing Home in Jackson, South MississippiState Hospital in Whitfield, and Jaquith Nursing Home in Laurel. Hewas a WWII combat veteran with five bronze stars and one silverstar. He was a mason, and was a member of Topeka Baptist Church. Helived in Brandon for the past 16 years.
Preceding him in death were his parents; his wife, JacqulineElaine Anderson; his brother, James E. Brister; and a sister, LoisRobinson.
Survivors are his sons, R.E. “Pete” Brister, Dr. J.C. “Skip”Brister and W.R. “Jack” Brister, all of Jackson; his sisters, BettyHagler, Charlene Nelson, Gene Massey and Billy Richie, all ofMobile, Ala.; and his grandchildren, Shannon Brister of Tampa,Fla., Bonnie Duncan of Murphysboro, Tenn., Bobby Brister ofJackson, and Zach and Zoe Brister of Brandon.
