Services for Gertrude Alberta Knight of Brookhaven are 2 p.m.,Thursday, April 29, at Tyler Funeral Home Chapel with burial inCarver Heights Cemetery.

Visitation is Wednesday from noon until 5 p.m., with family hourfrom 1-2 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.

Ms. Knight, 97, died April 25, 2004, at Haven Hall NursingCenter. She was born in Brookhaven on Aug. 24, 1906, to John Knightand Lou Ada Knight.

She was employed by Whitworth College and later Dr. Hawkins andfamily. She was a member of Bethel African Methodist EpiscopalChurch.

Preceding her in death were her parents.

Survivors are her sister, Ada L. Knight-Robinson of Cleveland,Ohio; her nieces, Billie J. Hopkins of Detroit, Mich., GwendolynKnight-Bell of Los Angeles, Dorothy Conic of Cleveland, Ohio, MelbaCane of Chicago, and Evelyn of New York, N.Y.; her nephews, JamesRobinson of Cleveland, Ohio, Darryl Robinson of Costa Mesa, Calif.,and Sammie George Knight of Los Angeles; and her adopted family,Eddie and Constance Pope and children, Eddie Jr., and Tamara, ofBrookhaven.
