QHO team captures Co-Lin Foundation

WESSON — Quality Home Oxygen of Brookhaven captured the 11thAnnual Co-Lin Foundation Golf Classic which was held Tuesday at theWolf Hollow Golf Club. The team of Rob Fisher, Ronnie Ross,Chandler Russ and Don Coleman shot a 19-under par 53 on the par-72course.
On a humid, sweat-soaked afternoon, Quality Home Oxygenshowcased its skills on the lush layout. The talented team recordedeagles on the par-5 No. 1 and No. 7 holes. They posted 15 birdiesand a par 4 on No. 6, rated the No. 1 handicap hole.
“We want to thank you for taking part in this tournament,” saidCo-Lin president Dr. Howell Garner. “We had a good day forgolf.”
Georgia Pacific of Monticello, including David Bishop, TodNelson, Walter Bone and John Holloway, won the Low Net championshipwith a 54.
Peoples Bank of Franklin County, led by Johnny Monroe, DonnieSisco, Eric Smith and Randy Martin, captured the Low Grosschampionship. Monroe was Closest to the Pin on No. 4 and No.14.
Fisher was awarded the Longest Drive Award on No. 2. JohnBuchanan won Longest Putt on No. 9.
Charlotte Hill, Executive Director for the Co-Lin Foundation,said she was happy to see the predicted thunderstorms bypass thearea. “The weather cooperated. We want to thank all the people whoparticipated and all the businesses who contributed to making itsuch a successful event.”
Around 100 golfers signed up for the event and 24 teamsparticipated. Co-Lin alumnus Guy Barr of Monroe, La., wasrecognized as honorary starter for the 18-hole scramble andpresented a plaque of appreciation by Garner.
Brookhaven attorney Joe Fernald won the Pebble Beach golfpackage.
