Services for James Carroll Smith of Bogue Chitto are 3 p.m.,Sunday, July 25, at Gum Grove Baptist Church with burial in thechurch cemetery.

Visitation is Saturday, from 5-9 p.m. at Brookhaven Funeral Homeand Sunday, from 2-3 p.m. at the church.

Mr. Smith, 60, died July 23, 2004, at his residence. He was bornin Lincoln County on March 28, 1944, to James W. Smith and EvelynSmith Smith of Bogue Chitto.

He was a retired welder. He was a member of Gum Grove BaptistChurch, where he served on the Cemetery Committee and BenevolenceCommittee for many years. He was a graduate of West Lincoln School.After his retirement, he enjoyed woodworking and doing projects forhis church.

Preceding him in death was his father.

Survivors are his mother; his wife, Sybil Allen Smith of BogueChitto; his daughters, Kim Neal and her husband, Jessie, ofBrookhaven, and Connie Nations of Bogue Chitto; his sisters, BettyFaye Sanders and her husband, Joe, of Carthage, and Jane Leary andher husband, Terry, of Brookhaven; his brother, Bobby Glen Smithand his wife, Delores, of Bogue Chitto; his brother-in-law, DeLynnAllen and his wife, Darlene; three grandchildren, Meagan Neal, AlexNeal and Taive Nations; three nieces; and six nephews.

Memorials may be made to the Gideons International or to theBaptist Children’s Village.
