Services for Myra Jean Gay of Summit are 6 p.m., Tuesday, Aug.24, at First Baptist Church in Summit with burial in Woodlawncemetery in Summit. Catchings Funeral Home is in charge ofarrangements. Rev. Randy Lewman will officiate.
Visitation is Tuesday from 3-6 p.m. at the church.
Mrs. Gay, 65, died Aug. 22, 2004, at her residence. She was bornin McComb on Nov. 2, 1938, to Hulon W. “Buck” Brown and EvelynCarruth Brown of Bogue Chitto.
She was owner of Village Flower and Gifts in Summit and with herhusband, Windsor, took a very active part in Summit Dixie YouthBaseball. She was a graduate of Johnston Station High School and agraduate of Co-Lin Junior College. She was a member of FirstBaptist Church in Summit. She and her husband, Windsor Gay, wouldhave celebrated their 45th anniversary on Monday, Aug. 23.
Preceding her in death were her father; and her mother-in-law,Gladys Gay.
Survivors are her mother; her husband; her children, Darla GayPaulk and her husband, John, of Summit, David Gay and his wife,Sandy, of Summit, and Lori Gay Wood and her husband, Trey, ofHattiesburg; her grandchildren, John David Paulk and Jamie-LynPaulk, both of Summit, Daulton Gay and Anna Gay, both of Summit,and Kathryn Allyn Wood of Hattiesburg; her brothers, Buster Brownand his wife, Marilyn, of Brookhaven, and Jackie B. Brown and hiswife, Marilyn, of Bogue Chitto; her sister-in-law, Versie Jones andher husband, Bob, of Baker, La.; a special aunt, Mary Godbold ofMcComb; and several nieces, and other family members and friends,including Jimmy Sanders and Kenneth Mooney.
Also surviving are her dedicated friends and employees ofVillage Flower and Gifts, Nell Cowart, Paula Albritton, VestaPittman, Kathy Reedy, Mary Ellen Roberts, Rebecca Lofton, DarleneRawls and Carol Ann McMorris; her dedicated and caring sitters,Amanda Brent, Kim Jones, Maxine Thomas and Tina Rigaud and aspecial nurse, Debbie Ball of Horizon Hospice.
Pallbearers will be Luke Harrington, Stephen Adams, Keith Moak,Sambo Roberts, Richard Lane Ball and Barney Albritton. Honorarypallbearers will be Bill Lewman, Rex Cowart, Stan McMorris, KenJohnson, Roger Graves, Richard Coghlan and all Pike CountyFiremen.
