Lady Bears stuff Lady Bobcats

The host West Lincoln Lady Bears handed the Bogue Chitto LadyBobcats an 11-3 division loss Thursday night in girls slowpitchsoftball action.

West Lincoln improved to 12-2 overall and 3-0 in the division.Bogue Chitto falls to 2-1 in division play and 10-3 on theseason.

“I was glad to see we hit the ball well,” said West Lincolncoach Andrew Redd. “Bogue Chitto jumped on us first. We hung inthere and fought back.”

Bogue Chitto led 3-0 in the top of the first inning but WestLincoln came back with nine runs for a 9-3 lead. The Lady Bearsadded one run in the fourth and fifth innings to secure thewin.

“We played horrible and they (West Lincoln) played great,” saidBogue Chitto coach Scott Leggett. “We still are not hitting theball well. Our defense was not there tonight. West Lincoln hit theball well.”

Brittani Phillips was the winning pitcher with two strikeoutsand four walks. Danielle Sasser absorbed the loss with nostrikeouts and five walks.

Powering West Lincoln with a double and single each were LaurenSmith, Britnee Smith, Ashley Palomarez, Alicia Kennedy, Kelsey Bassand Holli Smith. Tripling was Carrie Fauver.

Bogue Chitto was led by Candace Braxton’s home run. Meleah Brownand Devon Welch doubled. Singling were Candace Avants, Kayla Smithand Brynna Wallace.

The Lady Bears outhit the Lady Bobcats 13-6. Bogue Chittocommitted six errors while West Lincoln’s had none.

Junior varsity

West Lincoln dumped Bogue Chitto 8-1. Jessie Miller, CaitlinOwen and Amanda Owen singled for the Lady Bobcats.

West Lincoln travels to Enterprise and Bogue Chitto visitsDexter Thursday.
