Lofton wins Wolf Hollow title

WESSON — Chris Lofton shot a 73 in the final round to capturethe Championship Flight in the Wolf Hollow Golf Club Championshipfor the fourth time. Lofton shot a 54-hole total 213 eight strokesahead of his closest competitor.
By the end of the first day, Lofton lead the field by firing animpressive 68 followed closely by Poo McInnis who started thetournament with a 69. Warren Hood, a 15-year-old newcomer to thetournament, shot 72 and led Donnie Sasser by 2 strokes.
By the end of day two, Lofton built a commanding five-strokelead over McInnis by shooting 140. Hood finished second with a54-hole total of 221 with Sasser trailing close behind with222.
The tournament was flighted after 36-holes. Capturing the firstflight was Leland Hinton (236) followed by Gary Norton (243), whowon in a sudden death playoff, and Larry Bradford (243). Winner ofthe second flight was Billy Baker (265) with Ira Motley (267)finishing second and Ed Pinter (282) finishing third.
In the Senior Division of the tournament, Carroll Smith (232)was victorious by grabbing a three-shot lead on the second day andfighting off tough competition in Pete Dixon (236) and CharlieDavis (238), the last round of the tournament.
Although tied for the lead with Tommy Brown, in the Super SeniorDivision, after the first day, Wilson Winstead managed to becomethis year’s champion by shooting a 36-hole total of 157. FollowingWinstead was Henry Walters (158) and Ray Martin (159).
Club pro Justin Smith said the course was in great condition andthe field was the largest in recent memory.
