William ‘Billy’ Howell East

Services for William “Billy” Howell East of Brookhaven are 1p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 21, at Episcopal Church of the Redeemer withburial in Rose Hill Cemetery. Brookhaven Funeral Home is in chargeof arrangements.

Visitation is Tuesday from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. at thechurch.

Mr. East, 85, died Sept. 19, 2004, at King’s Daughters MedicalCenter. He was born in McGehee, Ark., on Nov. 17, 1918, to Floyd C.East and Myrtice Howell East.

He was a retired engineer with McMullen and Son. Prior to that,he had been co-owner of East Pharmacy for about 30 years. Hegraduated from Brookhaven High School and earned a mechanicalengineering degree from Mississippi State University. He was anavid MSU fan. He was a master staff sergeant in the Air Force,serving in World War II.

Preceding him in death were his parents; his second wife, OllieMae East; his brothers, Floyd C. East Jr. and James Thomas “Tommy”East; and his sisters, Betsy Lindsay and Ann Ferrell.

Survivors are his daughter, Martha Morgan and her husband, Paul,of Brookhaven; his sons, James Thomas East of Suger Land, Texas,and Richard Howell East of Hermitage, Tenn.; his sister, JuneLofton and her husband, Chid, of Brookhaven; and his grandson,Andrew Paul Alvin Morgan of Brookhaven.

Sidney Gibson Sr.

Services for Sidney Gibson Sr. of Natchez are noon Friday, Sept.24, at Holy Family Church in Natchez with burial in NationalCemetery in Natchez. Marshall Funeral Home is in charge ofarrangements.

Visitation begins Thursday at 6 p.m. at the church.

Mr. Gibson, 79, died Sept. 18, 2004, at Natchez RegionalHospital. He was born in Clayton, La., on March 24, 1925, to Mikeand Emma Gibson.

He worked in security at Copiah Lincoln Community College inNatchez, and was a laborer at International Paper Company . He wasa veteran of the Army and a member of Holy Family Church.

Preceding him in death were his parents; and his wife, DorothyGibson.

Survivors are his daughters, Jacquelyn V. Wallace and BillieJones; his son, Sidney Gibson Jr.; his sisters, Billie Gorden andIrene Scott; his four grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren; and ahost of nieces and nephews.

Roy Dale Smith

Services for Roy Dale Smith of Meadville were 11 a.m. today,Sept. 21, at Providence Baptist Church in Meadville with burial inProvidence Church Cemetery. Franklin Funeral Home in Meadville wasin charge of arrangements.

Mr. Smith, 42, died Sept. 19, 2004, at University Medical Centerin Jackson. He was born in Franklin County on July 23, 1962, toDennis Smith Sr. and Lorraine Halford Smith.

He was a security guard and a member of Providence BaptistChurch.

Preceding him in death was his father.

Survivors are his mother; his wife, Debbie Smith of McComb; hisdaughter, Mindy Smith of Indiana; his son, Kevin Smith ofTennessee; his brothers, Dennis “Pee-Wee” Smith of Vicksburg, andJames “Doodle” Smith of Natchez; his two grandchildren; and hisnephews.
