Bobcats dump Dexter

DEXTER — The Bogue Chitto Bobcats didn’t let the rain and windstop them from beating the Dexter Bulldogs 13-8 Friday night inRegion 4-1A football action.

The Bobcats improved to 3-4 overall and 3-2 in region play,winning their third straight game. Dexter drops to 1-6 overall and1-4 in region play.

“Our defense stepped it up and played outstanding,” said BogueChitto head coach Gareth Sartin. “We gave up just two bigplays.”

Fullback Cedric Washington powered the Bobcats with 22 carriesfor 155 yards and a touchdown. Quarterback Dantae Ratcliff, whocompleted 4 of 7 passes for 56 yards, rushed 13 times for 137 yardsand a TD.

Washington scored his touchdown in the first quarter on atwo-yard run. Erik Allen kicked the extra point and the Bobcats ledthe Bulldogs 7-0.

Bogue Chitto pushed its lead to 13-0 in the third quarter whenRatcliff broke loose for a 55-yard touchdown scamper. The PAT kickwas blocked.

In the fourth quarter, Dexter scored its only TD and 2-pointconversion to cut the Bogue Chitto lead to 13-8.

“Our offensive line did outstanding in the final seven minutes,”added Sartin. The Bobcats took control of the football and ran theclock out.

According to Sartin, Bogue Chitto had two turnovers inside theDexter 5-yard line and dropped a pass in the Wildcat end zoneduring the first half.

Offensively, the Bobcats rushed the football 46 times for 316yards. Bogue Chitto finished the game with 372 total yards.

Lange Porter caught two passes for 28 yards for the Bobcats.Steven Snow had a catch for 30 yards.

Dexter finished with 119 yards passing and rushed the football27 times for a negative three yards.

Defensively, Lyvanda Carmichael paced BogueChitto with 12 tackles and 2 sacks. Snow made 8 stops. RobertBullock collected 7 tackles. Making 6 stops were Porter, Washingtonand Richard Williams. Bullock recovered a fumble and RobertAnderson intercepted a pass.

Bogue Chitto hosts Salem Friday in another region matchup. Thegame begins at 7:30 p.m. on Troy Smith Field.
