Henley leads CA past Silliman

CLINTON, La. — Price Henley rushed the football 16 times for136 yards and four touchdowns to power the Copiah Academy Colonelsin a 56-3 win over the Silliman Institute Wildcats Fridaynight.

Copiah, coached by Mitch Mitchell, improved to 6-3 on the seasonand remained 1-2 in District 3-AA play.

In the first quarter, the Colonels jumped on the Wildcats for a21-0 lead. Henley scored touchdowns on runs of 27, 20 and 35-yards.Henley also kicked 6 of 6 PATs and a 32-yard field goal in thegame.

Henley’s field goal, plus a 41-yard run from David Brunt and a13-yard touchdown-pass from quarterback Bennett Wilson to WillErvin, pushed Copiah’s lead to 35-3 at halftime.

In the third quarter, the Colonels added three touchdowns topush their lead to 56-3. Henley scored a one-yard TD, StephenAssink returned a pass interception 33 yards for a touchdown andJake Guess scored on a seven-yard run. Assink kicked the finalPAT.

Offensively, Guess finished the game with 11 carries for 87yards. Brunt rushed the football three times for 68 yards.

Wilson completed 3 of 6 passes for 38 yards to lead theColonels’ air game. Henley had one catch for 16 yards and DannyPyles made one catch for eight.

Defensively, Pyles led Copiah with six tackles.Clint Denson, Cody Wright and Ben Stevens collected four tacklesapiece. Brunt and Denson recovered a fumble. Henley alsointercepted a pass.

Copiah is back at Gallman and hosts Prairie View Friday. Thegame kicks off at 7 p.m.
