Lady Bears rip Loyd Star

The West Lincoln Lady Bears jumped on the visiting Loyd StarHornets and cruised to a 59-30 win Friday night in Jack CaseGymnasium.
“Our defense was really good,” said West Lincoln girls coachLane Young after the game. “We have to make the easy shots. We’remissing too many.”
The 2-2 Lady Bears posted a 14-7 lead over the Lady Hornets inthe first quarter. The scoring slowed down in the second quarterbut the West Lincoln continued to outscore Loyd Star 9-6 and pushits lead to 23-13.
The Lady Bears picked up the tempo in the third quarter for a20-10 run to take a 20-point, 43-23, lead going into the finalframe.
Directing the Lady Bears with 14 points each were senior guardLauren Smith and senior forward Alicia Kennedy. Playmaker EricaShaw pumped in 11 points, grabbed five rebounds and made foursteals. Kennedy also made six steals and Smith made two steals.Monica Price collected seven rebounds and made four steals.
“We are playing poorly and have got to play better if we want toaccomplish anything this year,” said Loyd Star girls coach LoriBritt. Her team lost to Bogue Chitto Tuesday night.
For 4-3 Loyd Star, senior point guard Jordan Britt led with 10points, six rebounds and two steals. Hailey Ratcliff finished witheight points and grabbed eight rebounds. Porsha Jones pulled downnine rebounds.
Junior high action
The West Lincoln girls clipped Loyd Star 32-31. Laina Lairdnetted eight points and Keri Easley followed with seven to lead theLady Bears.
Brittany Brown scored 10 points for the Lady Hornets.
