BA teams swamp Silliman

CLINTON, La. — Guard Kelli Byrd pumped in 12 pints and theBrookhaven Academy Lady Cougars cruised to a 54-28 Tuesday nightvictory over Silliman Institute’s Lady Wildcats in District 4-AAaction. Byrd was joined in double figures by backup guard HolliCase who sacked 10 points.

In the varsity boys game, Cole Hodges fired in 20 points todirect the Cougars to a 59-33 victory over the Wildcats. Hodges,who nailed four 3-pointers, collected five rebounds and had fourassists.

The Lady Cougars (11-1) roared to a 33-8halftime lead. They got 8 points, 7 rebounds and 4 steals fromcenter Kristian Davidson. Byrd accounted for 6 assists, 4 reboundsand 2 steals.

Silliman was led by Jamie Brian’s 10 points.

The Cougars (9-1) jumped on the Wildcats 14-8in the first quarter and commanded a 30-14 lead at the half.

The BA boys got added support from Seth Davis with 16 points,four steals, three assists and three rebounds.

Netting 12 points for the Wildcats was Spencer McLain.

Junior High Results

Brookhaven Academy’s girls crushed Silliman 34-12, directed byDew Holland Tigner’s 12 points. Kelli Snider chipped in 8 pointsand 3 rebounds. Hannah Watts added 6 points and Kelli Brady 5rebounds for the 11-1 Lady Cougars.

Silliman was led by Katelin Palema with 6 points.
