A Monticello home was destroyed by fire early Thursday morningon Firetower Road.

At 3:45 a.m., units from the Monticello Fire Departmentresponded to a blaze at the home of Billy Bass. Fire Chief WayneHarrison said the house was fully engulfed when units arrived.

Additional firefighters from Silver Creek and Arm responded tothe early morning fire.

Harrison said the fire may have originated from a wood heater orfrom Christmas lights in the home.

“The Bass family was home at the time of the fire. Everyone gotout OK,” Harrison said.

Monticello units returned to their station at 5:20 a.m.
