Dear Editor,

On behalf of St. Vincent de Paul Ministries of St. Francis ofAssisi Catholic Church, I would like to say “thank you” to all thepeople, businesses and churches who gave to the recent fund raiserfor our food pantry. A special thank you to The DAILY LEADER andthe Bank of Brookhaven, who made the fund raiser possible. Throughyour efforts, many meals will be provided for people who would havegone without food for a few days at a time. Some of these peopleare small children.

Thank you also to a few merchants who work with us day in andday out all year long.

Brookhaven is a very giving community, and I’m sure that Godsees the many gifts given to those in need. Thank you to thechurches that gave to our food pantry when they have similarprograms in their own church.

Every one of us knows of a person or family who is having adifficult time. Why not do a little something for them, for Jesus,if you haven’t had a chance to already.

Many churches in Lincoln County provide a similar ministry asthe one I work with. If you are a member of a church that doesthis, ask yourself, what can I do to help?

Money or an offering of food is always a help. Without it, foodpantries would not exist. However, many times it’s just that no oneoffers their time.

Mark Nettles,

St. Vincent de Paul Ministries,

Brookhaven
