Services for Dan Cary Boyd of Brookhaven are 11:30 a.m., Monday,Jan. 3 at Brookhaven Funeral Home Chapel with burial in Mt. ZionChurch of Christ Cemetery.

Visitation is Sunday from 5-8 p.m., and Monday from 8-11:30 a.m.at the funeral home.

Mr. Boyd, 74, died Jan. 1, 2005, at Shady Oaks in Brookhaven. Hewas born in Leflore County on June 29, 1930, to Kary Boyd and EdithMarie Rushing Boyd.

He was a retired insurance agent with United of America. He wasa member of Mt. Zion Church of Christ in Brookhaven. He was aveteran of the Air Force, with service in the Korean Conflict.

Preceding him in death were his parents; and his wife, BobbieBoyd.

Survivors are his daughter and son-in-law, Jackie and JohnnyStewart of Brookhaven; his son and daughter-in-law, Garland andGale Boyd of Gulfport; his sister, Shirley Boyd Leggett of McComb;his brothers, Roger Boyd of Brookhaven and Fred Boyd of Summit; hisgrandchildren, Brandon Stewart, Ashley Stewart, Jessica Boyd andKallie Boyd; her great-grandchild, Madelyn Stewart; and a belovedpet, Gussie.

Appleton D. (A.D.) Pierce

Services for Appleton D. (A.D.) Pierce of Brookhaven are 2 p.m.,Sunday, Jan. 2 at Harrigill Funeral Home Chapel with burial inSweetwater Methodist Church Cemetery.

Mr. Pierce, 91, died Dec. 31, 2004, at St. Dominic MedicalCenter in Jackson. He was born in Louisiana on April 20, 1913, toWylie Vernon Pierce and Jesse Dixon Pierce.

He was a retired self-employed master carpenter. He was a memberof the Methodist faith.

Preceding him in death were his parents; his wife, Mildred SmithPierce; his son, Gerald B. Pierce; and eight brothers andsisters.

Survivors are his sisters, Maxine Waldon of Mobile, Ala., andGladys Jones of Jackson; his brothers, Jesse V. Pierce ofBrookhaven and J.D. Pierce of Jackson.; a grandchild, VanessaPierce Runge; and two great-grandchildren, Madison Runge and BrileyRunge.

Ruth Porter

Services for Ruth Porter of Roxie are 2 p.m., Sunday, Jan. 2 atFranklin Funeral Home Chapel in Meadville with burial in MidwayCemetery in Meadville.

Visitation is Sunday from 1-2 p.m., at the funeral home.

Mrs. Porter, 99, died Jan. 1, 2005, at Natchez CommunityHospital. She was born in Franklin County on Sept. 25, 1905, toJames Murray and Lula McManus Murray.

She was a homemaker. She was a member of Eddiceton UnitedPentecostal Church.

Preceding her in death were her parents; her husband, CliftonPorter; her son, Douglas Porter; two brothers, Homer and LesleyMurray; and three sisters, Myrtis and Lela Murray, and ReneAlbritton.

Survivors are her daughter, Edith Porter Jordan of Roxie; herbrothers, Floyd Murray and Edward Murray, both of Meadville; twograndchildren; six great-grandchildren; and 12great-great-grandchildren.

Glenn E. Ratcliff

Services for Glenn E. Ratcliff of McCall Creek are 1 p.m.,Monday, Jan. 3 at Community Funeral Services Chapel with burial inConcord Baptist Church Cemetery.

Mr. Ratcliff, 47, died Dec. 31, 2004, at his residence. He wasborn in McComb on Sept. 27, 1957, to Joseph Ratcliff of McCallCreek and Francis Carraway Ratcliff.

He was a truck driver with Lone Star TransportationServices.

Preceding him in death was his mother.

Survivors are his father; his daughter, Betty Hardin of Dayton,Ohio; his son, Joe Ratcliff of Cooksville, Tenn.; his sister,Brenda Walker of Natchez; his brother, Ricky Ratcliff of McCallCreek; and a special friend, Cathy Grantham.
