Services for Willie J. Black of Bogue Chitto are 11 a.m.Thursday, Jan 6 at Springfield M.B. Church with burial in thechurch cemetery.

Visitation is Wednesday from noon until 5 p.m. at WilliamsMortuary. Family hour is Thursday from 10-11 a.m. at thechurch.

Mr. Black, 67, died Dec. 31, 2004, at King’s Daughters MedicalCenter. He was born in Lincoln County on Oct. 8, 1937, to WillieBlack Sr. and Zadie Black Marks.

He was retired and disabled. He was a veteran of the Army. Hewas a member of Springfield M.B. Church.

Preceding him in death were his parents; his sister, ClariceMaxwell; his brother, Dennis Black; and his stepbrother, Freddie L.Marks.

Survivors are his sisters, Marie Sanders of Bogue Chitto, andLaverne Butler and her husband, Johnny, of Wesson; his stepsister,Mary L. Marks of Milwaukee, Wisc.; his brothers, Theodore “Bo”Black and his wife, Glenda, of Bogue Chitto, O.L. “Nick” Black ofBogue Chitto, Willie Black Jr. and his wife, Doris, of Brookhaven,James Black of Brookhaven, and Lester Black of Pearl; and a host ofnieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

James Carl ‘Dopey’ Clark

Services for James Carl “Dopey” Clark of Escatawpa were 2 p.m.Sunday, Dec. 19 at Holder-Wells Funeral Home in Moss Point withburial in Serene Memorial Gardens in Escatawpa. The Rev. HaywardSmith and the Rev. Michael Glenn officiated.

Mr. Clark, 82, died Dec. 16, 2004, at his residence. He was bornin Ruth on Nov. 10, 1922, to Ralph and Nettie Clark.

He was a retired maintenance foreman with District 6 of theMississippi State Highway Department. He was a member of EscatawpaBaptist Church and Masonic Lodge 419.

Preceding him in death were his parents; his daughters, BrendaSumrall Newcomb and Geraldean Roberts Bitowf; three brothers,Claude, Jack and Ralph Clark Jr.; and an infant sister.

Survivors are his wife of 60 years, Connie Clark of Escatawpa;his sisters, Rhoda Boyd of Ruth, Ruby Brister of Jayess, and OndeanWilks and her husband, Reggie, of Richland, Wash.; his brothers,James Clark, Hugh Clark and his wife, Marie, all of Ruth, and C.P.Clark, and his wife, Elner, of Jayess; his granddaughter, DonnaVaughan, and her husband, Chris, of Wade; his grandsons, WayneSumrall and his wife, Melissa, of Grandbay, Ala., Danny Sumrall ofStarkville, Denny Bitowf of Gulfport; his four great-grandchildren,Caleb and Chase Vaughan, Ryan Sumrall and Christian Davis; andnumerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Pallbearers were Mr. Clark’s grandsons.
