Memorial services for Ann Stricklin Peets, of Gainesville, Ga.,are 10 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 22 at Lanier Village Estates Auditoriumin Gainesville. Memorial Park Funeral Home in Gainesville is incharge of arrangements.

Mrs. Peets, 73, died Jan. 11, 2005. She was born Sept. 8, 1931,in Eden, Miss.

She was a retired schoolteacher, having taught at various levelsfrom seventh grade to university. Eighteen years of her 30-yearcareer were spent with the University of Georgia system. She alsoworked six years as director of education and training at PhoebePutney Memorial Hospital in Albany, Ga.

Mrs. Peets was a graduate of Mississippi State University,Mississippi College and Auburn University. She held bachelor’s,master’s and doctorate degrees.

A published author, her colorful works told of life in the Southand the people she met along her many adventures. She used many ofthese stories in her motivational speaking and lecturing around thecountry.

Mrs. Peets enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren, playingbridge and visiting with friends.

Preceding her in death was her husband, Davis Peets, a native ofBrookhaven.

Survivors are her son, Dr. Norman Peets, and his wife, Michelle,of Gainesville, Ga.; her granddaughters, Marett and CatherinePeets, of Gainesville; her sisters-in-law, Ellen Singer ofMelbourne, Fla., and Lewise Peets of Brookhaven; and nine niecesand nephews.
