Bobcats get first win; Lady Jackets prevail

The Bogue Chitto Bobcats posted their first win of the seasonTuesday night with a 48-38 victory over the host Enterprise YellowJackets in a key Division 7-1A game between Lincoln Countyrivals.

In the varsity girls game, the Lady Jackets knocked off the LadyBobcats 50-43.

The Jackets cut the deficit to five points, 52-47, with 1:24left to play. The Bobcats came back with a 6-1 run down the stretchto secure the win. Bobcat Daniel Howard went 3-for-4 from the free-throw line and Ta’Virus Lewis scored a bucket in the final secondsfor the 10-point victory.

“We executed well against their (Jackets) zone,” said BogueChitto boys coach Todd Wilson after the win. “Lewis and Joseph Harthit some big ones from the perimeter.”

Powering the Bobcats (1-15, 1-5) with 12 points was AntwainLyons. Lewis fired in nine points.

“We got in foul trouble early on,” said Enterprise boys coachRicky Gray. “Coach (Wilson) had them ready to play tonight. We justcouldn’t get over the hump.”

Gray’s Jackets fell to 1-13 overall and 0-5 in division play.Their only win came over Bogue Chitto in the Lincoln CountyRound-Robin Tournament.

Corey Everett paced Enterprise with 16 points followed by MattFloyd with 13. Floyd fouled out late in the game.

Enterprise’s Kaylin Burke nailed two free throws to tie the gameat 42-all with 2:34 left to play. Alisha Mason hit a jumper,followed by Jana Brister with a layup to go head 46-43 with 1:03remaining.

Down the stretch, Burke netted four more free throws forinsurance to secure the key division win. Burke finished the gamewith 13 points, going 8-for-8 from the charity line.

“It was a better all-around team effort,” said Enterprise girlscoach Jill Nations. “Alisha Mason got into foul trouble early andwe had other players to take up the slack. It was a really goodtest for us.”

Powering Enterprise (9-5, 4-1) with 16 points and nine reboundswas Mason. Kacy Rutland netted 14 points and grabbed sevenrebounds. Jana Brister pulled down eight rebounds.

Bogue Chitto first-year girls coach Christi Terrell was ill, soformer coach Mickey Myers took over coaching duties for onenight.

“Alisha Mason is one of the premier players in the area,” saidMyers. “Kaylin made some clutch free throws down the stretch.”

Candace Braxton directed the Lady Bobcats (12-6, 4-2) with 13points, three assists and two steals. Meleah Brown scored ninepoints, grabbed eight rebounds and had four assists. Shasta Porterpulled down seven rebounds.

Junior high Action

Bogue Chitto thumped Enterprise 38-12. James Buitt and ChaseBoham led the Bobcats with 10 points each. Jamal McNulty followedwith six points.

Tanner Delcambre paced Enterprise with 10 points followed by TimMcCoy with eight.

Enterprise hosts West Lincoln and Bogue Chitto travels to Mt.Hermon, La. Friday night.
