BA girls capture jr. high crown

CENTREVILLE – The Brookhaven Academy Lady Cougars whippedBowling Green’s Lady Buccaneers 35-15 Thursday night to capture theDistrict 4-AA Junior High Girls Championship. The BA girls finishedthe season 23-1 overall and 13-0 in district play.

The game was close in the first half with BA leading 6-4 in thefirst quarter and 11-9 at the half. A 14-4 run in the third quarterfollowed by a 10-2 run in the final frame secured the win.

“I am proud of this wonderful, special group of young ladies,”said BA girls coach Barry Gray. “We give our Lord all the glory fora successful season.”

Powering the BA girls with nine points each were Nicole Smithand Kelli Snider. Brady led off the backboards with 12 reboundsfollowed by Drew Holland Tigner with eight. Smith led with sevensteals followed by Snider with six. Tigner added four assists.

Gabby Givens paced Bowling Green with five points.
