Virginia ‘Ginny’ Maudine Bailey

Services for Virginia “Ginny” Maudine Bailey, of Brookhaven, are11 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 17 at Riverwood Family Funeral ServiceChapel with burial in Macedonia Baptist Church Cemetery.

Visitation is Wednesday from 5-9 p.m. at the funeral home.

Ms. Bailey, 56, died Feb. 14, 2005, following an extendedillness, at the University of Mississippi Medical Center inJackson. She was born in East St. Louis, Ill., on July 18, 1948, toRobert Hammons and Effie Hammons.

She was of the Baptist faith.

Ginny was a devoted mother to three children and the oldest offive siblings. She was always considered the “ruler of the roost”with her sisters and brothers. She was an “awesome” aunt to hernieces and nephews. Most of all, she was a very loving daughter toher parents.

Ginny was a 10 year employee of Wal-Mart Supercenter where sheworked in risk management and community affairs for the store. Sheloved her Wal-Mart to the very end.

Ginny was struck with a rare form of brain cancer. She fought agood fight, but eventually gave in and went to her heavenly Father.When she left this world the sun was upon her face.

Preceding her in death was her father.

Survivors are her mother; her daughter Bernadine Bailey, of LasVegas, Nev.; her two sons, Danny Bailey, of Illinois, and LanceBailey, of Las Vegas; her three sisters, Sherry Kratz, of Alabama,Nancy Carpenter, of Brookhaven, and Patricia Rushing, of Marissa,Ill.; her brother, Robert Hammons Jr., of Vicksburg; her nieces,Leslie Keller, of Illinois, Ginny Sue Welch, Peggy Kratz, both ofAlabama, Melody Hammons, of Vicksburg, and Ashley Hesker, PatriciaCarpenter, both of Brookhaven; her nephews, Ronnie Seering, ofIllinois, Jeremy Seering, of Washington, Charles Carpenter, ofBrookhaven, and B.J. Kratz, of Alabama; and a host of great niecesand nephews.
