Lady Bears rip Wesson

The host West Lincoln Lady Bears swept two Division 7-1A/2Afastpitch softball games from the Wesson Lady Cobras Thursdaynight.

West Lincoln won the first game 17-1 and the second contest13-0.

“It was good to get a couple of wins,” said West Lincoln coachAndrew Redd. “We did a good job on defense and base running.”

Heather Huff was the winning pitcher in both games, striking outtwo batters and walking none in the doubleheader.

West Lincoln is 5-3 overall and 5-2 in division play. Wessonstands 0-5 in division play and 2-6 on the season.

“West Lincoln just hit the ball better than us,” said Wessoncoach Ricky Gunter. “West Lincoln has a good ball club.”

Powering the Lady Bears with a double and a single was HolliSmith. Alicia Kennedy singled twice. Doubling was Kacey Smith.Hitting a single were Keri Easily, Carrie Fauver and BritneeSmith.

Bethany Dykes, Stacey Lowery and Monica Garcia singled forWesson. Lowery was the losing hurler with 11 walks. Julie Berryworked in relief with 3 walks.

The Lady Cobras committed six errors to the Lady Bears’ two.

West Lincoln 13, Wesson 0

Kacey Smith and Fauver paced West Lincoln with two singlesapiece. Lauren Smith doubled. Hitting safely were Holli Smith,Alicia Kennedy, Britnee Smith and Shelby Lofton.

Dykes, who singled, absorbed the loss with four walks. SamEllison also singled.

Wesson committed nine errors to West Lincoln’s three.

West Lincoln hosts Bogue Chitto today for more division action.The junior varsity game begins at 5 p.m. followed by the varsity at6. Wesson visits Enterprise.
