Services for George Brister Jr., of Detroit, Mich., are noon,Monday, April 11, at Willie Mae Tyler Memorial Chapel with burialin Bogue Chitto Cemetery.

Mr. Brister, 72, died April 5, 2005, in Detroit. He was born inCanton on Nov. 27, 1933, to George Brister Sr. and Della Mae ButlerLadalias of Bassfield.

He was a retired cement mason at Local 514 in Detroit. He was aveteran of the Army.

Preceding him in death was his father.

Survivors are his mother; his wife, Ethel Walker Brister, ofDetroit; his son, Joseph Henderson of Ponchatoula, La.; and hisdaughters, Tracy D. Evans, of West Point, and Carletta BristerWilliams, of Bassfield.

Beatrice Ratcliff Dunn Leggett

Services for Beatrice Ratcliff Dunn Leggett, of Sumrall,formerly of Brookhaven, are 2 p.m., Monday, April 11, at BrookhavenFuneral Home Chapel with burial in the Church of Jesus Christ ofLatter Day Saints Cemetery, Red Star Ward.

Visitation is today from 5-8 p.m. at the funeral home.

Mrs. Leggett, 90, died April 8, 2005, at Wesley Medical Centerin Hattiesburg. She was born in Lincoln County on April 24, 1914,to Richard Ratcliff and Ida Smith Ratcliff.

She was a retired garment factory worker. She was a member ofthe Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, Brookhavenbranch.

Preceding her in death were her parents; her husbands, R.G. Dunnand Eugene Leggett; four brothers, Rance, Carlos, Sydney, and AlabyRatcliff; two sisters-in-law, Mary Lou Ratcliff and Donis Ratcliff;her brother-in-law, Clyde Ward; and a great-grandson, James MichaelBrent.

Survivors are her daughter, Joyce Dunn Brent, of Hattiesburg;her son, James Edward Dunn, of Knoxville, Tenn.; her sister, NellieWard, of Brookhaven; her brothers and sister-in-law, Percy andGertie Ratcliff, and Versie Ratcliff, all of Brookhaven; hersisters-in-law, Ovelia Ratcliff and Mavis Ratcliff, both ofBrookhaven; four grandchildren, Debbie McLemore, of Wesson, andJeff, Mitch and Randy Brent, all of Hattiesburg; ninegreat-grandchildren, Kristin McLemore, Kayla McLemore, KimberlyMcLemore, Ross Brent, Davis Brent, Jeffrey Brent, Chadly Brent,Jonathan Brent and Ansley Brent; and numerous nieces andnephews.

Services for Jerry E. Pepper, of Brookhaven, are 3 p.m., today,April 10, at Brookhaven Funeral Home Chapel with burial in PleasantGrove Baptist Church Cemetery.

Mr. Pepper, 62, died April 8, 2005, at King’s Daughters MedicalCenter. He was born in Brookhaven on Aug. 18, 1943, to Van H.Pepper and Josie Pepper.

He was a retired oil field worker. He was a member of theBaptist faith.

Preceding him in death were his parents; and two brothers, JamesHorton Pepper and Tom Pepper.

Survivors are his wife, Carolyn Pepper, of Brookhaven; hisdaughters and son-in-law; Stephanie and Rhett Gilcrease and LaceyPepper, all of Brookhaven; his son and daughter-in-law, Bruce andSharan Pepper, of Brookhaven; his sisters, Josie Wright, ofShreveport, La., Wilma Porter of Fort Walton, Fla., Ruth Newman, ofPearl, and Dorothy Brooks and Gladys Richardson, both ofBrookhaven; his brother, Marlon Pepper, of Brookhaven; and sixgrandchildren, Madelaine Allen, Cayden Easley and Catelyn Easley,all of Brookhaven, and Haley Pepper, Peyton Pepper and ColbyPepper, all of Hurley.
