Wolves split twinbill with Tougaloo

WESSON — The Copiah Lincoln Community College Wolves baseballteam split a Saturday baseball doubleheader with the TougalooBulldogs at Sullivan Field.
Co-Lin whipped Tougaloo 22-7 in the first game and fell to theBulldogs 5-3 in the finale. It was the first win ever for theTougaloo baseball team who is 1-19 on the season.
Co-Lin is 21-19 overall and visits Pearl River Wednesday andGulf Coast Saturday for a pair of tough South Divisioncontests.
“On the whole we didn’t play very good baseball,” said Co-Linhead baseball coach Keith Case of the split. “We were flat.”
Co-Lin committed 6 errors in the first game and 2 in the second.Tougaloo made 9 first-game errors and had 2 in the second game.
Co-Lin 22, Tougaloo 7
Joseph Langham (2-4) posts the win with 7 runs (4 earned) on 7hits, 1 walk and 7 strikeouts. Jerome Burton (0-4) allowed 22 runson 12 hits and walked 11 batters.
Ben Sandifer powered the Wolves with a home run. PatrickWilliams ripped a triple and a single. Hitting a double and twosingles was Xavier Qualls. Cody Cunningham singled twice. JoshLogan, Garrett Jones and Jody Britt singled.
Calvin Triplett singled twice Tougaloo.
Tougaloo 5, Co-Lin 3
Tougaloo led 1-0 for four innings the pushed their lead to 3-0in the top of the fifth. Co-Lin came back with two runs in thebottom of the sixth and one in the seventh for a 3-3 tie. TheBulldogs added two runs in the top of the eighth to secure theirfirst season -win.
Will Buckels (2-2) was the losing hurler in eight inning with 5runs (4 earned) allowed on 8 hits, 4 strikeouts and no walks.Triplett earned the win with 3 runs allowed on 4 hits, 8 strikeoutsand 9 walks.
Britt led the Co-Lin hitters with a triple and a double.Williams and Logan singled.
Quincy Walker and Pollard homered for Tougaloo.
“We didn’t play with a lot of enthusiasm,” added Case. “We’regoing to make some adjustments. We have to make some changes.”
