Progress on industrial park an encouraging step forward

With the planned purchase of land for a new industrial park,Brookhaven, Lincoln County and Chamber of Commerce officials aretaking an important step forward in the economic future of thiscommunity.
Officials last week approved bond issues and allocation of otherfunds totaling $3.7 million for the purchase of 400 acres inwestern Lincoln County. Some 16th Section school land is alsoincluded for park plans.
With the current industrial park near capacity, the community isin desperate need of more land to aid in efforts to lure prospectshere. Having available land will raise Brookhaven and LincolnCounty a notch or two in the eyes of industries looking for a placeto locate.
While officials expect the land to be formally purchased inJune, it must still be developed to be made suitable. Communityleaders are seeking out economic development grants and variousother funding sources to provide the needed infrastructure.
Having a new industrial park remains the top priority forcommunity officials. After some time in the planning stages, it isgood to see progress being made toward this worthy goal.
