Wesson honors athletes

WESSON — Seniors Lauren Smith and Wade Williams were honoredwith the Cobra Award Thursday night during the Wesson AthleticBanquet at the school cafeteria.

Receiving scholastic honors were Ryan Causey and Hillary Allen.Causey scored a 32 on his ACT test and Allen scored 25 on her ACTtest.

Most Valuable Player Awards went to Wade Williams and CollinKing in boys basketball, Alexis Crosby in girls basketball, CoreyPuckett in baseball; Bethany Dykes in fastpitch softball, AmberBowman in girls soccer and track, Hermes Aguilar (offense) andJeremy Greer (defense) in boys soccer, Warren Hood in golf, MatthewCliburn (boy) and Mare Sims (girl) in tennis.

Charity McDaniel was selected as Dancer of the Year on the danceteam.

During the basketball awards, boys head coach Ron Kesslerannounced that several new records were set by the boys and girlsteams this year. Williams leads with a 6.5 best assists average,King with a 75 % best free throw percentage, Pickett with 54 % bestfield goal percentage and Merchant with seven 3-pointers in onegame. Crosby set a new girls record in 3-point shooting with 6 inone game.

Head baseball coach Hugh Knight compliment his team on setting arecord of 35 double-plays this season.
