2 injured in weekend stabbing, shooting

A Brookhaven woman has been charged with aggravated assault inthe early Saturday stabbing of her roommate, and authorities arecontinuing their investigation into an unrelated shooting at aMonticello Street convenience store.

Brookhaven Police Det. Roger Wilson said Javae J. Dixon, 23, of230 Penn St., allegedly stabbed her roommate, Joan Blue, 32,several times in the incident that happened around 2:30 a.m.Saturday. Dixon remained in jail Monday charged with aggravatedassault.

“This ensued from a domestic argument that escalated to astabbing,” Wilson said.

Wilson said Blue has been released from the hospital and wasdoing fine.

“She had several stitches on her head, neck and back, but she’sable to walk around,” Wilson said.

In an unrelated weekend incident, Wilson said no arrests havebeen made in a shooting at the C-Store on Monticello Street around11:30 p.m. Sunday.

“We’re waiting on some information and evidence from the crimelab,” Wilson said.

Timothy O’Neal Smith, 20, of 1306 Brignall Road, was shot in theright hand. Smith was taken to King’s Daughters Medical Center andthen transferred to Southwest Mississippi Regional Medical Center,where he was later released.

Wilson said a “person of interest” was questioned in theincident and released. According to Smith, Wilson said the personapproached him at the C-Store and fired four shots.

“Apparently, this stemmed from a disagreement they had earlierin the month in Monticello,” Wilson said.
