Bulldogs whip Tenn.-Martin

STARKVILLE, Miss. (AP) – Ed Easley homered and had four hits,and Michael Rutledge had four RBIs to lead Mississippi State to a17-3 victory over Tennessee-Martin on Tuesday night in the firstgame of a doubleheader.
Easley and Thomas Berkery had key RBI singles in the Bulldogs’8-3 victory in Game Two.
Mississippi State (35-18) scored seven runs in the third inning,sparked by Easley’s third homer of the year, a solo shot to leadoff the big inning. The Bulldogs drew two bases-loaded walks in theinning.
Easley was 4-for-5 in the opener and Brad Corley went 4-for-6for Mississippi State.
Freshman John Lalor retired the first 12 batters he faced inimproving to 5-0.
In Game Two, Easley and Brad Jones each drove in two runs tolead Mississippi State.
Bulldogs coach Ron Polk became college baseball’s10th-winningest coach. He has 1,268 wins and surpassed former Miamicoach Ron Fraser.
Blake Turner had three hits in the second game forTennessee-Martin (12-40).
