Services for Morris Brister, of Brookhaven, are 3 p.m. Tuesday,May 24 at Brookhaven Funeral Home with burial in Union BaptistChurch Cemetery

Mr. Brister, 61, died May 21, 2005, at Southwest MississippiRegional Medical Center. He was born in Lincoln County on Dec. 21,1943, to Walt Brister and Katie Davis Brister.

He worked off shore and owned Bristers Boys Catfish Farm. Heloved to rabbit hunt.

Preceding him in death were his parents; his brothers, Garson,J.H. and George Brister; and his sisters, Berdie Monnie and LavadaWilson.

Survivors are his daughter, Beth Edwards and her husband, Kevin,of Brookhaven; his sons, Wivall Brister, of Brookhaven, and John”Speck” Brister and his wife, Melissa, of Brookhaven; his sevensisters, Jane Brumitt, of Hammond, La., Catherine Overstreet, ofMonticello, Mary “Edrina” Mulford, of Brookhaven, Geneva Holly, ofVaiden, Annie Ray “Ann” Wallace, of Bogue Chitto, and RuthieMorgan, of Bogue Chitto; his brothers, Floyd Brister, of BatonRouge, and Maxie Lee Brister, of Brookhaven; his grandchildren,Haleigh Brister, Sydney Brister, Brooke Brister, Richard Edwards,and Devin Edwards; the children’s mother, Neomia Brister Boyte; andhis special friend, Sherron Godbold, of Magnolia.

George Castilaw

Services for George Castilaw, of Brookhaven, are 11 a.m.Tuesday, May 24 at Brookhaven Funeral Home with burial in WellmanBaptist Church Cemetery.

Visitation is today from 5-9 p.m. at Brookhaven FuneralHome.

Mr. Castilaw, 91, died May 20, 2005, at Countrybrook LivingCenter. He was born in Lincoln County on June 16, 1913, to John D.Castilaw and Ellen Norris Castilaw.

He was retired from Mobil Oil Company. He was a member ofWellman Baptist Church.

Preceding him in death were his parents; and one sister, AliceFaye Castilaw.

Survivors are his wife, Willie Cleveland Castilaw, ofBrookhaven; his daughters, Mary Ellen Louiere, of Vidor, Texas,Shirley A. White and her husband, Bill, of Port Neches, Texas, andKathy Harris and her husband, Mike, of Vidor; his sons, Charles E.Castilaw and his wife, Linda, George D. Castilaw and his wife,Bonny, and John Paul Castilaw and his wife, Sue, all of Vidor; 20grandchildren; 29 great-grandchildren; and 11great-great-grandchildren.

John Gaines

Services for John Gaines, of Brookhaven, are 11 a.m. Wednesday,May 25 at Williams Mortuary Chapel with burial in Rose Hill ChurchCemetery.

Visitation is Tuesday from noon until 6 p.m. at the funeralhome.

Mr. Gaines, 87, died May 22, 2005, at King’s Daughters MedicalCenter. She was born in Lincoln County on Nov. 28, 1917, to WillGaines and Isabelle Gaines.

She was retired.

Preceding her in death were her parents; three sisters, IreneLott, Marion Gaines and Josephine Coleman; two brothers, EugeneGaines and Willie B. Gaines; two sons, Paul Edward Gaines and MarkAnthony Gaines; and one daughter, Cathy Gaines.

Survivors are his daughter, Cheryl Gaines, of Brookhaven; hissons, Harold Banks, of Brookhaven, and Victor Gaines, of Jackson;12 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; a special nephew, HaroldColeman, of Brookhaven; and many nieces, nephews and otherrelatives.

Clara Mae McDaniels

Services for Clara Mae McDaniels, of Brookhaven, are 1 p.m.Wednesday, May 25 at St. Paul M.B. Church with burial in Rose HillCemetery.

Visitation is Tuesday from noon until 5 p.m. with family hourfrom 6-7 p.m. at R.E. Tyler Funeral Home.

Mrs. McDaniels, 89, died May 20, 2005, at King’s DaughtersMedical Center. She was born in Wesson on May 14, 1916, to YancySmith and Pinkie Black Smith.

She was a retired nurse from the Mantena State Hospital inKankakee, Ill. She was a member of St. Paul M.B. Church. She was aresident of Haven Hall Healthcare Center.

Preceding her in death were her parents; and her husband, Willie”Jab” McDaniels.

Survivors are her sisters, Margaret Miner, Thelma Smith, ErmaJean Smith Woods, all of Champaigne, Ill.; her brother, Earl Smith,of Champaign, Ill.; and a host of nieces and nephews.

Gussie Thames Norton

Services for Gussie Thames Norton, of Brookhaven, are 2 p.m.today, May 23 at Community Funeral Services Chapel with burial inRosehill Cemetery.

Mrs. Norton, 99, died May 20, 2005, at Haven Hall HealthcareCenter. She was born in Lincoln County on March 4, 1906, to WalterS. Thames and Dottie Ward Thames.

She was a self-employed seamstress. She was a member of theFirst Nazarene Church.

Preceding her in death were her parents; her husband, RufusNorton; her daughter, Billie Jean Johnson; her granddaughter, JudyJohnson; a grandson, Phillip H Johnson; three brothers; and sixsisters.

Survivors are her two great-grandchildren, Claire Foshee andKaren Liebkneckt, both of Maryland; her sisters, Pauline Cain, ofBrookhaven, Dottie Hill, of Monticello, and Bettye Faye Jones, ofNashville; her brother, Ray Thames, of Brookhaven; and a host ofnieces and nephews.

James Mavin Russell

Services for James Mavin Russell, of Hensley, Ark., are 11 a.m.Tuesday, May 24 at Cox Chapel in Oak Grove, La., with burial inKilbourne Cemetery in Kilbourne, La. The Rev. Aubrey Everett willofficiate.

Visitation is today from 3-9 p.m. at the funeral home.

Mr. Russell, 85, died May 19, 2005, at St. Vincents Infirmary inLittle Rock. He was born in Oak Grove on Feb. 1, 1920, to RobertElmon Russell and Zona Isadora Bryant Russell.

He was a school teacher and barber. He served in the Army.

Preceding him in death were his parents; his wife, Mary LeeFleming Russell; his sister, Melba Smith; and his brother, RobertClint Russell.

Survivors are his wife, Norma Lay Russell, of Hensley, Ark.; hisson, Ronald Mavin Russell, and his wife, Barbara, of Brookhaven;his daughters, Barbara Zona Russell Pilgreen and her husband, Jim,of Carrollton, and Rhoda Ilene Russell Everett and her husband,Aubrey, of Brookhaven; his sisters, Alene Ogden, of Bastrop, La.,and Marylene Johnson, of Monroe; seven grandchildren; and sixgreat-grandchildren.

Pallbearers are Scott Russell, Len Smith, Chas Dillion, RustyEverett, Les Graves II and Patrick Lay Daughtry.

Honorary pallbearers are Clyde Lester, Art Johnson, JimPilgreen, Sonny Fowler and Benji Everett.
