Services for Elton Cothern, of Jayess, were 10 a.m. today, May26 at Bogue Chitto Baptist Church at Carter’s Creek with burial inCothern Family Cemetery. Catchings Funeral Home in McComb, was incharge of arrangements.

Mr. Cothern, 78, died May 24, 2005, at Southwest MississippiRegional Medical Center in McComb. He was born in Pike County onOct. 18, 1926, to Luther Cothern and Mamie Alexander Cothern.

He was a retired machine operator for Walthall County. He was anArmy veteran of World War II and a member of the Veterans ofForeign Wars and the Disabled American Veterans. He was a member ofBogue Chitto Baptist Church at Carter’s Creek.

Preceding him in death were his parents; his wife, AudreyDunaway Cothern; and three brothers, Herman Cothern, Howard Cothernand Doyle Cothern.

Survivors are his two daughters, Patricia Alexander, of Felder’sCampground, and Carolyn Felder, of Jayess; two brothers, HewittCothern, of Jayess, and Charles Ray Cothern, of Jayess; threegrandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces,nephews and other family and friends.
