Drug bust nets $74K in ecstasy

Drugs valued at more than $74,000 in street value were seizedduring an arrest of a California man on Interstate 55 thisweek.

Copiah County Sheriff’s Department K-9 Officer Chad O’Quinn saidMichael Phac Nguyen, 23, of 716 32nd Avenue, San Francisco, hasbeen charged with trafficking in a controlled substance as theresult of a routine traffic stop.

O’Quinn said during the stop the behavior of his K-9, Rex,changed and indicated there were drugs in the vehicle. He receivedconsent to search the vehicle from Nguyen and discovered 3,000″hits” of the narcotic ecstasy hidden in the rear driver’s sidedoor panel.

Lincoln County Deputy Jason Cole assisted in the search, hesaid.

“An investigation resulted in another arrest and a cashseizure,” O’Quinn said, but added he was unable to provide furtherdetails because of the ongoing investigation.

More arrests are expected in the case, he said, but thosearrests would be conducted by another agency.
