A Columbia teenager was killed Wednesday night in LawrenceCounty when her vehicle left the road and overturned, authoritiessaid.

India J. Parkman, 17, of 611 Dale St. was traveling south onHighway 43 around 10 p.m. in a 1999 Pontiac Grand Am when she ranoff the road and overturned about nine miles south of Highway 84near the Arm community, said Staff Sgt. Rod Crawford, publicaffairs officer for the Mississippi Highway Patrol’s Troop M.

“She was ejected during the crash and was transported to LawrenceCounty Hospital by ambulance, where she was pronounced dead,”Crawford said.

Parkman was alone in the car and was not wearing a seat belt, hesaid.

The cause of the crash is unknown, Crawford said.
