Officers investigate 2 break-ins at businesses

Brookhaven police are investigating two Tuesday night businessburglaries that may be related.
The breaking-and-entering incidents at Brookhaven FuneralInsurance Co. on West Congress Street and the Mail Station on WestCourt Street were reported Wednesday morning, Detective RogerWilson said.
“We don’t know if the two are related, but we’re working themnow as if they are,” Wilson said.
In the Mail Station break-in, Wilson said the burglars enteredthe building through a back window after removing an airconditioning unit. In addition to the unit, an undisclosed amountof cash was taken.
In the insurance company incident, Wilson said a broken windownext to a side door allowed entry into the building. An undisclosedamount of money also was taken.
Both businesses are in the same block.
“We don’t have any suspects at this time, but we’re working onsome leads,” Wilson said.
If the leads pan out, Wilson said, authorities hope to wrap upthe case quickly.
