Services for Byron Hidalgo, of Hazlehurst, are 10 a.m. Saturday,July 30 at Stringer Family Funeral Services in Hazlehurst withburial in the Hazlehurst Cemetery.

Visitation is today from 5 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.

Mr. Hidalgo, 50, died July 27, 2005, in Louisiana. He was bornin Thibodaux, La.

After moving to Hazlehurst, he grew from the ground up abusiness, Faubourg Lighting Inc., that he poured his heart and soulinto. Fauboug Lighting has become one of the premier manufacturersof copper gas lighting in the nation, and his legacy will continueto live on through Faubourg and a staff of employees that have asmuch passion for Faubourg Lighting as they do for Mr. Hidalgo. Hewas an active member in the economic development of Hazlehurst,which he grew to love and call home. His accomplishments includedbeing a member of Hazlehurst United Methodist Church, where heserved on numerous committees, Citizen of the Year, President ofthe Chamber of Commerce, and President of the Economic Developmentof Copiah County.

Mr. Hidalgo had many hobbies that he loved as much as hisbusiness, one of which included his desire to cycle. He was anactive member in the Lance Armstrong Foundation, and found a desirein the gift of life through cycling and his admiration for LanceArmstrong. More than anything, Mr. Hidalgo’s most successful accomplishmentwas the friends and family that he left behind. He is loved by manyand will never be forgotten. He was a devoted husband, son,sibling, father and stepfather, who would forego his own desiresand wishes to see the pleasure on the faces of others through hisacts. Byron was a great man who left his stamp of life on thehearts of many and because of that, we are all better people forhaving him in our lives. He will be loved, missed and alwaysremembered.

Survivors are his wife, Kathy Hidalgo; his daughter, CarolineSuzanne Hidalgo, of Thibodaux; his stepsons, William Turner Berry,of Hazlehurst, and Michael Garner Berry, of Jackson; his parents,Roland Augustine and Joyce Caroline Hidalgo, of Thibodaux; hisbrother, Aaron Hidalgo, of Thibodaux; his sisters, Lisa False andher husband Todd, of Thibodaux, and Jamie Verden and her husband,Robert, of Prentiss; three nieces and one nephew.
