BC girls shut out North Pike

BOGUE CHITTO — The Bogue Chitto Lady Bobcats crushed the NorthPike Lady Jaguars 10-0 in girls slowpitch softball action Thursday.LaToya Braxton (3-0) posted the win and Jenna Dickerson absorbedthe loss.

Bogue Chitto 10, North Pike 0

Bogue Chitto (4-0) led 2-0 after the first inning, 4-0 after theecond and 8-0 after the third. In the fifth, the Bobcats tacked ontwo more runs for the win.

The Bobcats out hit the Jaguars 13-2. North Pike committed threeerrors.

“We hit the ball well tonight,” said Bogue Chitto coach ScottLeggett. “Our offensive production was better than what it wasMonday. Everybody hit the ball. We played another great defensivegame.”

Shaquille Burton and Devon Welch powered Bogue Chitto with atriple and a single apiece. Tripling was Chelsey Miller. Braxtondoubled. Ripping a pair of singles was Kelli Howard. CandaceAvants, Meleah Brown, Dori Hall, Jessie Miller and CaitlinOwen.

For North Pike, Kaitlyn Perry, Leonna Ballard and Tori Gaskinhit safely.

Junior varsity

Bogue Chitto (2-0) rallied for two runs in the bottom of thefifth inning to pull out the 9-8 win. North Pike went up 8-7 in thetop of the fifth.

Christianna May (1-0) was the winning hurler, striking out twoand walking three.

“The JV did a great job,” added Leggett. “They hung in, playedan exciting game and came up with a big game-winning inning.”

Tripling for Bogue Chitto were Hannah Nichols and MikkiMitchell. Darcy Miller doubled. Collecting a pair of singles wasMorgan Roberts. With a single were Blaine Myers, Holly Miller,Chassity Moak, Josie Porter and May.

Bogue Chitto entertain Brookhaven Tuesday for two games. The JVgame begins at 5 p.m. followed by the varsity at 6.
