Ole Brook, others play Monday night

“It’s been a crazy football season,” said Ole Brook headfootball coach Tucker Peavey. His Panthers have been knocked offthe schedule track by two major hurricanes, Katrina and Rita,during the month of September.

Friday’s home date against McComb was postponed until Mondaynight, due to the threat of high winds and rain spawned by Rita.Kickoff is 7 p.m. on King Field.

Peavey said the Panthers will travel to Mendenhall on Friday,Sept. 30, for another Region 6-4A game, giving them a shorter timeto prepare. The Panthers (0-2) are defending region and statechampions.

Hurricane Katrina postponed and then canceled the Sept. 2 homegame with South Pike due to storm damage. The Panthers had a 2-weeklayoff before playing at Clinton Sept. 16.

In other action Monday night, Bogue Chitto hosts Gulfport St.John and West Lincoln hosts Natchez Cathedral for 6 p.m. kickoffsand Enterprise hosts Mt. Olive, also for Region 4-1A action,kicking off at 7.

Brookhaven Academy hosts Columbia Academy for a District 4-AAcontest Monday, starting at 6. Most of the homecoming festivitiesand dance were completed Friday night in John R. GrayGymnasium.

In a Region 7-3A match at Magnolia Monday night, kickoff is 7:30for the South Pike-North Pike contest.

Loyd Star’s home game with Mize was canceled. Wesson hosts MizeThursday night in Copiah-Lincoln Community College’s Stone Stadium.Co-Lin prepares its field on Friday for a Saturday afternoonhomecoming game against Gulf Coast, kicking off at 2:30.

Franklin County coach Grady McCluskey said Natchez refused toplay his team Monday night in a makeup game. Natchez plays MeridianFriday and Meridian refused to move that game to Saturday.

“It’s really frustrating,” said McCluskey. “We had all ourschemes in for Natchez and our kids were ready to play. Now we haveto change gears and get ready for South Pike.”

Franklin County will host South Pike at 7:30 Friday night in akey Region 7-3A contest.
