Firefighters free driver from overturned truck

A local delivery truck overturned early this morning on OldHighway 51 near Industrial Park Road.

Brookhaven Fire Department Capt. Ferman Freeman said thedepartment was called out at 5:59 a.m. to provide assistance usingthe Jaws Of Life.

On arrival, firefighters found an 18-wheeler, belonging to EPCOCarbon Dioxide Products, overturned and the driver pinnedinside.

Firefighters used the Jaws to help paramedics gain access to thedriver’s legs, which were pinned inside the cab of the truck.

The driver was removed from the truck and transferred to King’sDaughters Medical Center.

The truck was hauling carbon dioxide refrigerated liquid,Freeman said.

EPCO Carbon Dioxide Products operates a plant on Fender Trail inthe Brookhaven Industrial Park.
