Former Wesson Alderman Hollis Cowen Jr. died Saturday. He was60.

Cowen died of natural causes at his residence, said CopiahCounty Coroner Phil Howard. Brookhaven Funeral Home is in charge ofarrangements, which are incomplete.

Cowen served on the Wesson Board of Aldermen from 1986-2005.

“He loved being an alderman, because he loved Wesson,” said hiswife, Sonya.

Mayor Pro Tem Lura Greer served with Cowen on the board for 12years. She said Cowen, his wife and their children, Katrina andTrey, were like family.

“He will certainly be missed,” Greer said. “I thought a lot ofhim and we were friends.”
