South Pike secures BHS tourney

The South Pike Eagles captured the 2005 Brookhaven Invitationalboys basketball title Saturday night in Sinclair Gymnasium, beatingarchrival McComb 62-61.

In other boys tournament action, the Tylertown Chiefs past theWesson Cobras 61-36 and the Wilkinson County Wildcats defeatedBogue Chitto’s Bobcats 46-44 in consolation bracket games. TheBrookhaven Panthers fell to the Hinds AHS Bulldogs 73-55 in anotherconsolation match.

Brookhaven, Bogue Chitto and Wesson take a break for theThanksgiving holidays this week. Ole Brook resumes play Nov. 29,hosting Crystal Springs. Bogue Chitto travels to Loyd Star the samenight. Wesson is at Natchez Cathedral on Monday, Nov. 28.

Tylertown 61, Wesson 36

The Chiefs(3-4) got a game-high 14 points from D’bundee Smith.Samon Dillon and Quincy Lampton each had 12 points for head coachLavern Lee.

The Cobras (0-4) were led by Mason Warren with 8 points.

Wilkinson Co. 46, Bogue Chitto 44

The Wildcats (3-4) escaped with the 2-point victory, behind agame-high 19 points from Lawrence Cage. Quantereous Lee added 10for head coach Arthur Clark.

The Bobcats (0-2) were led by Keyouanna Perkins with 16 points.Dontae Ratcliff pumped in 10 points for first-year head coach AndySmithie.

Hinds AHS 73, Brookhaven 55

The Bulldogs used a balanced scoring attack, with JaCorey Wrightleading the way with 16 points. Joseph White tossed in 14 points,followed by Jarnovian Washington with 13. Keith Williams added 11points for head coach Keith Williams.

The Panthers (1-5) got a game-high 27 points from Bobo Rancifer.Ole Brook is coached by Ronald Hines.

South Pike 62, McComb 61

The Eagles (5-1), coached by Joe Taylor, were led by PhilipBrown with a game-high 24 points. Brandon Duplesis tossed in20.

The Tigers (5-2) got 17 points from Otis Smith. Chris Anaziafollowed with 14 points. DeFreddrick White had 10 points for headcoach Hilton Harrell.
