Services for J. Wayne Allgood, of Brookhaven, are 10 a.m. Mondayat Riverwood Family Funeral Service with burial in Forest LawnCemetery.

Visitation is today from 5 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.

Mr. Allgood, 84, died Dec. 1, 2005, at Camellia Estates inMcComb. He was born on Oct. 18, 1921, to the late Dorsey S. Allgoodand Anna Hammock Allgood.

He was retired from the U.S. parole commission. He was a memberof First Baptist Church of Brookhaven. He received a bachelor’sdegree at Louisiana College and a master’s degree at LouisianaState University. He was a former deacon at First Baptist Church,of Richardson, Texas, and was an associate warden and warden atAngola Prison in Louisiana. He was a professor of sociology atLouisiana Tech University in Ruston, La.

Preceding him in death were his parents; and his wife of 56years, Deta Bird Allgood.

Survivors are his daughter, Judy Wallace and husband, Joe, ofBrookhaven; his grandchildren, Laura Keel and husband, Daniel, ofChuglak, Alaska, Jennifer Smith and husband, Micheal, of DenhamSprings, La., and Stan Wallace and wife, Melinda, of Shreveport,La.; and eight great-grandchildren.
