Hugh L. Boyte Sr.

Services for Hugh L. Boyte Sr., of Brookhaven, are 2 p.m.Sunday, Jan 8 at Bethel Temple United Pentecostal Church withburial in the church cemetery.

Visitation is today from 4 to 9 p.m. and Saturday from 10 a.m.until 9 p.m. at Brookhaven Funeral Home and Sunday from 1 to 2 p.m.at the church.

Mr. Boyte, 80, died Jan. 5, 2006, at Mississippi Baptist MedicalCenter in Jackson. He was born in Louisiana on Sept. 7, 1925, toTom E. Boyte and Lillie Hemphill Boyte.

He was a drilling superintendent with Engineers Laboratory Inc.for 40 years. He served in the Navy during World War II. He was amember of Bethel Temple Pentecostal Church.

Preceding him in death were his parents; his son, Eldon Ross”Butchie” Boyte Sr.; his brother, Wessie D. Boyte Sr.; a sister,Jessie L. Hilton; and a brother-in-law, Kenneth Hester.

Survivors are his wife of 58 years, Clara Adelle Boyte, ofBrookhaven; his sons, Hugh L. Boyte Jr. and Tommy E. Boyte, both ofBrookhaven; his daughters Helen Louise Boyte Smith and her husband,Mitchell, of Loyd Star, Jennie Boyte Waldrop and her husband,Jessie, of Brookhaven, Wendy Star Boyte Furr, of Brookhaven, PennySue Boyte Moulder and her husband, Russell, of Brookhaven and PattiMaranda Boyte, of Clinton; his sisters, Johnnie Acy and herhusband, Charles, of Brookhaven, and JoAnne Hester, of Garland,Texas; his brother, Tom E. Boyte Jr. and his wife, Mary, ofBrookhaven; his sister-in-law, Lavada Boyte, of Brookhaven; 21grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces,nephews and cousins.

Iva Pearl Travis Calcote

Services for Iva Pearl Travis Calcote, of McCall Creek, are 10a.m. Saturday, Jan. 7 at Bethel United Methodist Church with burialin the church cemetery.

Visitation is today from 5 to 9 p.m. at Harrigill FuneralHome.

Mrs. Calcote, 74, died Jan. 3, 2006, at St. Mary’s Hospital,Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minn. She was born on Dec. 12, 1931, toCade Monroe Travis and Wessie Smith Travis.

She was a homemaker. She was an active member of Bethel UnitedMethodist church, where she has served as Adult and Children’sSunday school teacher, Sunday school superintendent, past presidentof the United Methodist Women, member of the Pastor ParishRelations committee and Vacation Bible school hostess.

She served as president of the Franklin County Homemakers Club;member of the I.L.R. at Copiah-Lincoln Community College; assistedin organizing and participating in the homecoming preparations forthe McCall Creek Class Reunion and the Quentin Reunion. She retiredfrom Movie Star in Bude after 17 years of employment. She was alsoan active supporter of the Franklin County Museum

Preceding her in death were her parents.

Survivors are her husband of 58 years, Frank Seguer Calcote, ofMcCall Creek; her sons, Chris Calcote and his wife, Joyce, ofPerkinston, and Bruce Calcote and his wife Rhonda, of Hattiesburg;her daughters, Rita Long and her husband, Stan, of Bogue Chitto,and Janet Carlock and her husband, Ray, of McCall Creek; herbrother, Cade M. Travis Jr., of Picayune; her sister, MargaretteTravis Newsom, of Brookhaven; eight grandchildren, Tatia Kiser,Natalie Long, Stanci Long, Brent Calcote, Kane Calcote, JaceCarlock and Quin Carlock; and two great-grandchildren, Jack Kiserand Caroline Kiser. She will be sadly missed by her many nieces,nephews, family and friends.

Glenn Ray Hughes

Services for Glenn Ray Hughes, of McComb, are 1 p.m. Saturday,Jan. 7 at Hartman Funeral Home in McComb with burial in HollywoodCemetery in McComb.

Visitation is today from 5 to 10 p.m. and Saturday from 9 a.m.until 1 p.m. at the funeral home.

Mr. Hughes, 47, died Dec. 30, 2005, at his residence in McComb.He was born in McComb on Sept. 6, 1958, to Prentiss Herman Hughesand Florence E. Hughes Tyler.

He was a derrick hand for Signal LLC. He loved to hunt and fishand liked all kinds of animals, especially his dogs. He collectedantiques and old bottles.

Preceding him in death was his father.

Survivors are his mother, Florence E. Hughes Tyler, ofBrookhaven; his siblings, Alfred H. Hughes, of Brandon, Paul A.Hughes, of Smithdale, Brenda F. Hughes, of Petal, Prentiss A.Hughes, of McComb, Jimmy D. Tyler Sr., of Petal and Terri L. TylerNettles, of Brookhaven; and a host of nieces, nephews,great-nieces, great-nephews, other relatives and friends.
